President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has warned that UPDF armies are on high alert with full capacity to crash the Lords Resistance Army (LRA) rebels if they attempt to return to Uganda with a motive of disrupting and terrorizing Northern Uganda again.

Mr Museveni was addressing over 2000 people who had turned up for the grand fundraising to complete the construction of the St.Augustine’s church Barogole in Lira town on Saturday where he donated over one hundred million shillings to support the building. Read the rest of this entry »

August 18, 2008: It was on Sunday afternoon when the Erute North Member of Parliament Charles Angiro Gutumoi Abac-Acon stormed Lira central police station to accuse the rapid response unit (RRU) police personnel of unlawful arrest and detention of about 6 people suspected of sexually abusing a 10 year old girl. Police from Kampala over the weekend arrested Lira district LC5 chief Franco Ojur (right) over an allegation of mismanaging Northern Uganda Social Action Funds.
Franco Ojur was arrested and detained at Lira central police station where later he was released on police bond following profound interrogations by the team of police and detective officers from Kampala. Read the rest of this entry »
