(Rupiny, January 7, 2008) Although 2011 is still far away various politicians from Apac District are already warming up for the next general elections. Among them are Geoffrey Otim Malakwang (Apac sub-county), Geoffrey Obura, Robert Abak, Akaki Jovino, and Ogwang Benson Echonga of Uganda House – all eying the position of MP for Maruzi.

Betty Nam (LC 5 Alito), Jane Ogomarach (a teacher in Aduku SS) and Acan Ruth want to contest for Apac woman MP seat. Current Woman MP for Apac, Betty Amongi has said nobody knows her intention yet.

Others are Charles Ogang (LC 5 Akokoro) and Dicken Wacio Olak (Speaker) who are clandestinely campaigning in the grassroots for the position of LC5 Chairman Apac. Current Vice LC5 Chair of Apac Bob Okae and Apac NRM

Chairman Richard Ogwang also want the same post.

Meanwhile, youthful Felix Yine wants to become LC5 Counsillor for Apac Town Council.

However, Maruzi MP David Ebong Abongo has said that

people eying his seat are wasting their time because they will lose badly at the next elections.

Geoffrey Eling (Radio Apac) wants to be Chairman LC 3 for Chawente and Tonny Ayo wants LC 5 Chawente.

In Kole County, Peter Ocen Akalo, Dickens Ogwang Okul and Robert Olet Egwea are waiting to replace the elderly John Ogwang Beridwogo MP.

Current LC5 Chairman of Apac, Opio Bunga has declined to indicate his interest saying that 2011 is still far although several people have already

expressed interest in his post.

Quite often politicians campaign vigorously for positions but once they are elected they tend to cater for their stomachs only and forget about the peasants.

Therefore, I want to advise Lango electorate to be vigilant during the forthcoming elections of 2011 without bias towards any party – NRM, UPC, FDC, CP and others.

  1. Lawrence Johnson Ocola says:

Am a born of lango and specifically apac district. Although i have been out of uganda for close to 20 years now. I would like to let my people know that i intend to lift up their head again and run for the presidency of the country. Very soon a new political party shall be born to represent and integrate the interest of all Ugandans. The division and disintegration in the UPC is a loss of direction for the people of Uganda. The FDC being a brain child of NRM cannot be be an agent of any great change because only its name is different just like me and my brother, but we share the same blood. Its time the people of Uganda votes for a young leader, someone dynamic and willing to bridge the generation gap in ugandan politic. Am 34 years old, educated, well mannered, politically and diplomatically experienced. I have the love of my people at heart and as early as January 2010 Ugandans must count with one more political party with a briliant leader. Young and in-charge
