President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has warned that UPDF armies are on high alert with full capacity to crash the Lords Resistance Army (LRA) rebels if they attempt to return to Uganda with a motive of disrupting and terrorizing Northern Uganda again.

Mr Museveni was addressing over 2000 people who had turned up for the grand fundraising to complete the construction of the St.Augustine’s church Barogole in Lira town on Saturday where he donated over one hundred million shillings to support the building.

The President argued that LRA rebel leader Gen. Joseph Kony was only fooling people around and buying time to reorganize his troops but was not willing to talk and sign peace.

He said when the staled peace talks started some few years back he told both government and rebel peace delegates that Kony would never sign a peace deal but would instead waste time.

“Kony is a mad man, how can you preach gospel of peace to a person who can not listen to summons” Museveni asked thousands of people who had turned up for the fundraising at Barogole Primary school where the fundraising was held.

He assured the IDPs returnees to embark on cultivation adding that Kony will never come back to disrupt the prevailing peace in the region.

Peace talks between the Government of Uganda and the Lords Resistance Army rebels hit a snag early this year after the rebel leader Gen. Joseph Kony refused to sign the agreement.

President Museveni maintained that what can Joseph Kony can listen to is to save his life because he is a very big coward.

According to Mr. Museveni Kony will not only come back because of the peace talk but is because of the strong armies which we now have in place.

Museveni also cautioned returnees against HIV/AIDS and errant drinking of alcohol.

Lands, Housing and Urban Development Minister Daniel Omara Atubo assured president Museveni that the support for the ruling National Resistance Movement party in Lango sub region is growing on daily basis.

Atubo tipped president that by sending development and more support in the region rulings NRM would continue to gain support in the region.

Lango diocese Bishop John Charles Odur Kami hailed the President for his support to the churches.

He said that the construction of the church at Barogole was estimated at shillings three billion.

Mr.Museveni promised to return to the sub-region for the mobilization of prosperity for all project soon.
