Night murders increase in Lango

The people of Lango were thrown into panic by the July 19 incident in which a Juba-based businesswoman Dorcus Achola was brutally murdered in a manner that most people thought could only be executed by none other than the barbaric rebels of the LRA.

100 Amolatar residents rounded up for illegal fishing

Mama Miria Obote blocked from holding rally in Amuria

Supporters of Uganda People’s Congress in Amuria were today morning engaged in scuffles with the police who were deployed to block their rally.

Hundreds of heavily armed police officers were deployed at the district headquarters to disperse thousands of the UPC party supporters who had gathered to welcome their president Mama Miria Obote (right) at the party launch in the eastern region.

UPC party officials at Uganda House said that the rally is intended to launch the mobilization campaign a head of the 2011 general elections.

Amuria LC5 district chairperson, Julius Ocen, who was elected under the UPC party ticket, accused the minister of state for disaster preparedness and the area MP, Musa Ecweru of using the police to sabotage their activities in the district. Read the rest of this entry »

Canadian charity unlocks Kamdini water pump in defiance of court order

20 years behind bars for defiler of 10 year old girl

The high court in Apac has sentenced a 29 year old man to 20 years imprisonment for defiling a girl aged 10. Belmos Egoo, a resident of Opeta parish in Aboke Sub County, late last year had sexual intercourse with a girl who he had brought from a relative to live in his home as a house maid.
