Apac district Chairperson Nicolas Opio Bunga has vowed establish a branch of Gulu University Branch in Lango and it will be located at Uganda Technical Collage Lira which he will help in promoting.

Speaking to Lango Web at White House Hotel last week Opio, who was tasked with heading the establishment of the branch, expressed hope that the challenges in accomplishing the mission would be overcome.

He was with John Baptist Okello Okello, Dokolo district chairperson, who said Lango’s main problem is now the divided leaders. Okello Okello stressed the need for leaders to unite and work as a team, minus creed and political differences.

Opio Bunga called upon Langi who are in diaspora not to sleep because their stay outside is not for prestige. He also called upon Lango diaspora to work tooth and nail to make Lango a better place and to promote Lango to the world.

He ended by making assurance that a branch of Gulu University would soon be in Lira. He called for patience and prayer and thanked God for the little peace that is now prevailing in Lango.

  1. I was born in Apac district. I am so impressed by what our local leaders are doing in promoting education in the region especially district chairman apac Nicholas Opio Bung. May God bless you abundantly in all your plans for our dear districts. If possible bring a secondary school to Agwiciri trading centre. Ben from Agwiciri Apac.

  2. What is wrong with langi. Im afraid the langi can not successfully steer any tangible developmental venture without the hand of the government or religion!! You hear of All saint university or gulu univ…!! Well, Gulu university may come to lango but this should be just to start of, with the ambition of being autonomous in future. Just like MUBS tried to come out of MUK. This means acquiring a different name in future. what is wrong with that

  3. I have always been following the debate about bringing Gulu university branch to Lango. What concerns me is the way they are handling it – Lira is still having abundant land, why do you want to squeeze such a big institution with another one? Can’t we give government another land so that the current DFI be relocated, and the university is established at Ngeta dfi? This in future would encourage expansion. Why do we want to behave as if we are expecting LIRA TOWN to remain a tribal town? We should build institution to serve national and international intrests. Lira currently is the third largest town in Uganda(wekipedia). Besides DFI in 15 years time will be irrelevant and a hinderance to the expansion of the town.

  4. Hi,Kop ango?
Please, tell me more about the university.
    Thanks.
