Police in Lira have received a donation of 300 handcuffs from American Embassy to help law enforcers handle the increasing number of lawbreakers in post-war Lango district.
Lira District Police Commander Raymond Otim announced the receipt of the consignment on Monday.He says the donation will ease the police mission in taming suspects and delivering them safely to required destinations.
In his remarks after receipt of the handcuffs, Otim cautioned public against contravening the law.
Some members of the public have however criticized the aid saying the American embassy should have given other necessities to assist the police other than handcuffs.
One Jaramogi says the aid depicts negatively on the post war district and is aimed at scaring the masses to create disparity between the police force and the locals.
