Gulu, April 12, 2008: The Resident District Commissioner of Gulu retired Col. Walter Ochora Odoch has said LRA leader Joseph Kony is not interested in coming back home because he fears the Acholi and other people in Northern Uganda for the bad things he has done to them.

He said Joseph Kony had already confided in some people that he is among 10 members of his group who would never come out of the bush whatever the circumstances.

The RDC who was today speaking in an interview, was making an analysis of Kony’s failure to sign the much anticipated peace deal with the government of Uganda. He added that the rebel leader wants all the wrongs he committed lifted from him and to be resettled in a neutral country where he can remain untouched by the ICC or any other court.

Ochora also said Kony sees that advantages of remaining in the bush outweigh those of coming out, and therefore thinks that when he comes out of the bush ,he will loose the liberty he has been enjoying while in the bush such as being treated with much respect as the LRA Boss .

Ochora added that Kony is afraid that when he comes of the bush he will even loose the very many women he has been enjoying for free. The RDC said he however believes that peace talks are the cheapest and best opportunity of resolving the 20 year old conflict in Northern Uganda.

He however noted that Kony needs pressure and is a threat to several countries including Central African Republic where he has relocated, DRC, Chad and Sudan.

Joseph Kony, the leader of the Lords Resistance Army (LRA) on the 10th April 2008 disappointed and angered the people of Northern Uganda when he refused to sign the final peace deal meant to end the 22 year long insurgency, seeking more clarification on the agreement after first postponing it the other week.
